How to figure out what theme a WordPress site is using

Have you ever stumbled onto a site and thought, I wish I knew how they built that? Or I want that feature!

I’ve experienced “site envy” on more than one occasion and actually think it is a good thing to be curious about how others have set up their sites. In fact, it is one of the first questions I ask clients: what are the sites that inspire them?

Wednesday Roundup 2

It has been a busy week over at MC. I launched my new email newsletter and have several exciting roll-outs happening with clients!

My Wednesday series provides a variety of helpful resources each week for bloggers and anyone interested in building a digital platform. While I started calling it Wednesday Roundup, I am not sure I love the name. Have an idea? I would love your feedback! Please leave a comment below if you have any other ideas on what to call this series.

7 WordPress Plugins That You Can’t Live Without

Most bloggers are on the hunt for the best WordPress plugins to help improve the functionality of their sites. A good plugin can take your site to the next level while a bad one can be nothing more than a huge headache.

After lots of research and trial (and error), I have compiled a list of the 7 Essential WordPress plugins all WP users should download.

Wednesday Roundup 1

Happy Wednesday! I hope you guys are having a good week so far. I mentioned in my inaugural post that I’ll be posting a variety helpful resources and insights each week. They’ll range from book recommendations to cool tools I use, all with a focus on building your platform.

Here’s what’s on my mind today:

1. Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: I’m loving this book by Gary Vaynerchuk. Gary is an amazing social media marketer and wrote this book about how to tell your story in a very noisy online world. The book is worth every penny as it goes through the good (and embarrassingly bad) examples of how to use social media tools effectively on each platform. He hilariously dissects what big brands do wrong and gives you his take on how to best modify your message per social channel.

Why I decided to create a blog about blogging

Welcome to my new blog dedicated to helping bloggers and small business take their platform to the next level. There are so many talented authors out there with the desire to grow and my mission is to assist you on your journey.

It is hard to believe that only a few years ago my wife Joanna and I were working on our first blog together.

We burnt the midnight oil tweaking her site, brainstorming new content ideas, and learning the ins and outs of WordPress.

I realized that the skills I learned could directly translate to other bloggers out there. I would have never dreamed that I would take this hobby and build a web design company around it!
